Tip of the week: Delegate one small task and trust someone to do it

By LiberLite Team · Nov 3, 2026 · 1 min read

Owners often try to do everything themselves because "nobody does it as well." This keeps the business small and the owner tired. Delegating is a skill, and you can start with something small.

Choose a task that is repetitive, clear and low risk: cleaning, packing orders, collecting deliveries, arranging stock or doing a simple errand. Explain exactly what you want, show it once and write the steps if needed. Agree how you will check the result.

Resist the urge to redo the work. Give feedback kindly and let the person improve. If it is done well, thank them.

A food vendor in Mwanza who delegates washing and chopping to a helper gains time to serve customers and think about new ideas.

Pay fairly for help. Even young relatives deserve clear agreements and respect.

As trust grows, hand over more. Your time is best spent on tasks only you can do, like relationships, planning and decisions.

This week: pick one task, write down the steps and hand it over.
