Tip of the week: Take real breaks so you can work well for years

By LiberLite Team · Oct 22, 2026 · 1 min read

Long hours do not always mean more income. Many small business owners work seven days a week until they are exhausted, sick or resentful. Tired owners make poor decisions and treat customers badly.

Plan rest like you plan sales. Take short breaks during the day: eat properly, drink water, stretch or step outside for a few minutes. Take at least one half day or full day each week away from the business, if you can arrange coverage.

Prepare so that the shop can run in your absence: a trusted helper, clear checklists, and stock arranged in advance. Tell regular customers when you will be away.

A tailor in Arusha could close on Sunday afternoons after announcing it, and customers will adapt and plan around it.

Rest also gives time for family, friendship and faith, which support you through hard seasons.

Notice warning signs: constant irritability, mistakes and forgetfulness. They mean it is time to slow down.

This week: choose one block of rest time and protect it.
