Tip of the week: Close the sale by asking for the order

By LiberLite Team · Oct 22, 2026 · 1 min read

Many sales are lost simply because nobody asks. The customer likes the product, you explain it nicely, and then both stand in silence. Someone needs to take the next step, and it should be you.

Use a friendly closing question:

  • "Shall I pack it for you?"
  • "Would you like to pay by M-Pesa or cash?"
  • "Should I deliver it today or tomorrow?"

These questions assume the customer is ready and just need a small push. They are not rude, they are helpful.

If the customer hesitates, ask what is holding them back: "Is there anything you would like to know before deciding?" Then answer honestly.

A food vendor in Mwanza can simply say, "How many portions should I prepare?" rather than "Do you want to buy?"

Accept a "no" graciously and leave the door open: "No problem, you are welcome any time." Many customers return later.

This week: end every sales conversation with a clear closing question.
